Over 40 years of care
No GP referral required
Our personalised weight management service avoids generic plans. Every patient receives an in-person consultation at one of our two Finchley branches, including a comprehensive health check.
By reviewing your medical history and lifestyle, we help you choose suitable treatments like Mounjaro or Wegovy. We establish realistic goals and provide ongoing support throughout your journey.
Per 2025 General Pharmaceutical Council standards, online questionnaires alone are no longer sufficient for weight loss prescriptions. A face-to-face clinical assessment is now legally required.
Cootes Pharmacy has always maintained this high standard. If your current provider is online-only, they must now adopt in-person assessments to remain compliant. At Cootes, you are already receiving the required level of care.
Call your nearest branch or walk in; same-week appointments are available with no GP referral.
Your pharmacist conducts a thorough in-person health assessment reviewing medical history, BMI, and relevant conditions.
We create a personalised treatment plan, including medication choice, starting dose, dietary guidance, and goals.
Explore MHRA-approved medications, understanding dosage, eligibility criteria, and safety instructions.
Mounjaro is a weekly MHRA-approved medicine that reduces appetite. Eligibility depends on your BMI, age and medical history. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Wegovy is an MHRA-approved weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics fullness hormones to reduce calorie intake. Since September 2025, it has typically been more affordable than Mounjaro.
Both are MHRA-approved, once-weekly injections for weight management. The right choice depends on your health history and how your body responds. Your pharmacist will help you decide at your in-person consultation.

Eligibility generally requires a BMI of 30+, or 27+ with weight-related conditions. Your pharmacist will assess your BMI alongside your full health profile to confirm whether you meet the criteria.
GLP-1 treatments exclude those under 18, pregnant, breastfeeding, or with histories of pancreatitis, severe gastric issues, medullary thyroid carcinoma, or MEN2 syndrome. Type 1 diabetes, eating disorders, severe kidney/liver issues, and concurrent weight-loss medication use are also exclusions. Your assessment confirms suitability.
Mounjaro is being rolled out on the NHS in phases from March 2025. Currently, NHS access requires a BMI of 40 or above and at least four weight-related conditions. Most Finchley patients do not meet that threshold yet. For the majority of people, a private prescription through Cootes Pharmacy is the fastest and most accessible route available right now.
In October 2025, the MHRA carried out raids on facilities producing counterfeit Mounjaro and Wegovy pens. Some of these products were found to contain insulin rather than the intended medication, placing patients at serious risk of hypoglycaemic shock.
Buying unregulated injections online to save money is not a safe shortcut. Cootes Pharmacy is GPhC registered and fully regulated. Every medication we dispense is sourced through licensed UK supply chains. You will always know exactly what you are receiving and who is responsible for your care.
Please note: Counterfeit pens place patients at serious risk of hypoglycaemic shock. Cootes Pharmacy is GPhC registered, with every medication sourced through licensed UK supply chains.
GLP-1 medications work best when paired with sustainable lifestyle changes. We don’t just hand over a pen; we provide practical, achievable guidance for a whole-person approach.

Get practical advice on eating more protein.
Build lasting habits beyond the medication.
Regular check-ins help you stay on track.
We see you in person before prescribing, as the GPhC 2025 rules require. Online-only services simply can’t offer that.
Most patients are seen within the week at either Finchley branch. No NHS queues, no travelling across London for help.
You’ll deal with a named pharmacist who knows your history, not a faceless form reviewer. Kamal Patel leads your care.
You’ll know the full cost before you start. No surprise consultation fees at checkout. The price we quote is final.
We book a follow-up at each dose increase to check progress and manage side effects. You’re never left guessing alone.
Every consultation happens in a private room. Only the team caring for you sees your information. Full discretion, always.

Louise CowanI visited this pharmacy to obtain a medication that is currently in national short supply. They assured me it was in stock with their supplier & would be ordered for next-day delivery and securely stored, but I would need to wait five minutes upon arrival while they prepared it. That was no problem for me, and I even explained that if there were any issues, they should call me, and I’d ask my GP to amend the prescription. A few days later, I went to collect the medication, only to be told they didn’t have it. There was no explanation—just a curt “no, we don’t have it.” I was puzzled and mentioned that the pharmacist had said it would be kept in a safe place. The dispenser then mocked me, saying, “we don’t have it; we know where we keep the meds,” with a sarcastic tone. Still, no explanation was given about what had happened. Eventually, the pharmacist said they could order it since it was in stock, and I could collect it the next day. They promised to call me when it arrived. Which they did and all was ok. The experience was disorganised and unnecessarily rude. There was no need for the sarcasm; a polite explanation and a clear solution would have sufficed. I mentioned this to a local friend who shared similar sentiments and now chooses to walk five minutes further to another pharmacy to avoid dealing with this one.
