Our High Road branch opens its doors — over 40 years of serving the same streets, the same families, and the same community.
A second branch opened on Ballards Lane in Finchley Central. More than 20 years on, it has built its own loyal patient base across N3 and the surrounding area.

At Cootes Pharmacy, we believe independent pharmacies exist to serve their communities, not to hit national targets set by head office. Every clinical decision at either branch is made by a pharmacist.
We are here for straightforward advice, professional care, and a genuine conversation when you need one. That is what community pharmacy should look like.

When you walk into a chain pharmacy, you are one customer in a national system. The person behind the counter is following procedures written elsewhere for patients they have never met.
At Cootes Pharmacy, the pharmacist knows the community. Clinical decisions are made by the pharmacist in front of you, not dictated by a head office.
Independent pharmacies can offer services that matter to local patients, not just the ones that appear on a national commissioning list. They can take time with patients who need it. They can make calls a chain would not.
Choosing an independent pharmacy means your care stays local. It means your pharmacist is invested in your health, not just your transaction.

Cootes Pharmacy operates two GPhC-registered premises. Both branches are independently owned under the same company registration.
Cootes Pharmacy has been part of North London’s healthcare landscape for over 40 years. Both branches operate within the North Central London health network, working alongside local GPs, NHS services, and the wider primary care system in Barnet.
Our role in the community goes beyond dispensing prescriptions. We deliver NHS clinical services, support patients managing long-term conditions, and provide health advice to people who might otherwise wait weeks for a GP appointment.

Louise CowanI visited this pharmacy to obtain a medication that is currently in national short supply. They assured me it was in stock with their supplier & would be ordered for next-day delivery and securely stored, but I would need to wait five minutes upon arrival while they prepared it. That was no problem for me, and I even explained that if there were any issues, they should call me, and I’d ask my GP to amend the prescription. A few days later, I went to collect the medication, only to be told they didn’t have it. There was no explanation—just a curt “no, we don’t have it.” I was puzzled and mentioned that the pharmacist had said it would be kept in a safe place. The dispenser then mocked me, saying, “we don’t have it; we know where we keep the meds,” with a sarcastic tone. Still, no explanation was given about what had happened. Eventually, the pharmacist said they could order it since it was in stock, and I could collect it the next day. They promised to call me when it arrived. Which they did and all was ok. The experience was disorganised and unnecessarily rude. There was no need for the sarcasm; a polite explanation and a clear solution would have sufficed. I mentioned this to a local friend who shared similar sentiments and now chooses to walk five minutes further to another pharmacy to avoid dealing with this one.
We are open six days a week at both branches. Walk in, call ahead, or book a service online.
